iMist to sprinkler systems 2017-10-24T18:30:31+01:00

iMist VS Sprinkler Systems

There are places in the market for both misting systems and sprinkler systems, and to which their
individual benefits are widely known. Below is a comparison between the iMist system and sprinkler
systems in the residential & domestic market place.

Hoses & Pipe Work

The iMist system uses a stainless-steel flexible hydraulic hose alongside hydraulic fittings, meaning that installation is quick and easy, and that even the most difficult historical property types can have an iMist system installed. The largest part of the iMist hose is 22mm, please see gallery for more pictures.

Hard Pipe Systems

Are much more traditional means of feeding water around the sprinkler system. The pipes usually have a large internal and external bore and are very hard to retro fit, the typical use would be for new build properties but as you can imagine a hard pipe system takes much longer to install than a flexible hose fed misting system.

The iMist system uses the Q12I nozzle, which is situated on in a gu10 downlight fitting and made in white as standard. The nozzle can be made in any colour the customer requires, please send across your preferred RAL code as early as possible into the enquiry process. The iMist nozzle is made to look part of your lighting scheme, and therefore as subtle as possible.

Typical Sprinkler Nozzles

There are many types of sprinkler nozzles on the market ranging from traditional drop-down nozzles or concealed heads. The drop-down nozzles are very much the same as the traditional watermist nozzles, where they are very intrusive and would not look part of a residential or domestic ceiling. The hidden nozzle is an idea iMist looked at early on in their journey and decided against it as it can slow down activation time, which could of course lead to more damage.

Pump Unit/Water Supply

The iMist Pump unit is in steel container and designed to be situated in an under stairs cupboard, utility cupboard, kitchen unit etc. The measurements for the pump unit can be found on our gallery page along with the weight. The pump unit has no terminals on the outside of the unit and therefore cannot be tampered with, the pump is also screwed to the wall or side wall to ensure it cannot be rocked. Each job is assessed on a job by job basis but you may well find we can do your whole property with just the 1 pump! Please visit the iMist design page for more information on our 2 types of pump unit.

Sprinkler Supply

Many sprinklers systems require a water tank or a separate incoming water feed from the road. A sprinkler system requires upwards of 60LPM in comparison with iMist 12LPM, therefore you can see that the required water supply is much more than iMist. Such systems would be better suited to larger residential projects than smaller domestic projects. Should there every be an activation then the water damage from a sprinkler system would be considerably more than a watermist system.
